Hasiru Dala Innovations began its journey in 2015 to create predictable livelihoods for waste pickers and bring transformative change to their quality of life within their lifetime. Over the past nine years, we’ve built a solid foundation of trust with the waste picker community, and grown along with them. Our clients chose us not only for our high-quality services but also because they shared our commitment to empowering waste pickers. Our investors, who are key figures in the social sector, consistently reaffirmed their trust in us as we challenged the status quo in waste management by focusing equally on waste pickers and the circular economy.
As we evolved, we realized the key role of Inclusion, Innovation, and Circularity as the pillars upon which our foundation is built. Today, we wish to share with you how these values are finely and tangibly intertwined within our work.
1. We developed a first-of-its-kind, inclusive, waste picker entrepreneur business model to build opportunities for waste pickers to aspire to a quantum change in their quality of life. In partnership with these entrepreneurs, we now provide Total Waste Management services to 32,000+ households across 290+ residential communities, and 70+ corporates, while they create green jobs for more waste pickers, and are also able to scale their businesses.
2. We pioneered Event Waste Management in India, driving the movement and setting benchmarks for Green Events. With 800+ events managed since 2015, including festivals like Echoes of Earth and the TCS World 10K Marathon, we’ve proven our capacity to handle complex waste streams and created supplemental income opportunities for waste pickers.
3. Our ability to pioneer a supply chain model that integrates waste pickers into the operations of global brands like Unilever, H&M, and Cofresco has driven substantial social impact, demonstrating our commitment to Inclusion and Circularity in real, measurable ways. We’ve proudly become the ONLY multi-stream waste management company in the world to be Fair Trade Guaranteed by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), assuring fair practices while empowering waste pickers.
4. We’ve extended our commitment to Circularity even further in 2022 by joining the India Plastics Pact, a business initiative that unites stakeholders across the plastics value chain to achieve a circular economy for plastic packaging in India.
5. As a Founding Signatory of the Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Industry Coalition (RECEIC), an initiative launched at the G20 Summit in 2023, we are contributing to global discussions on resource efficiency alongside 39 Indian and international corporations.
With the Inclusive Circularity® trademark won, we have updated our logo to reflect the evolution of our brand over the past nine years. We’ve made the word “INNOVATIONS” bigger and bolder and integrated INCLUSION and CIRCULARITY into “Inclusive Circularity®”.
Inclusive Circularity® is the deliberate and planned inclusion of waste pickers and informal waste workers in the evolving circular economy value chain – which is the who, what, and how of our organization, now stitched right into our brand identity!
